Paul Pierce HAD SUCH AN AMAZING game!!

I was eating doritos in my living room during the 3rd quarter when Paul Pierce sprained his knee! :O
From that point on i thought they lakers were going to win..but for the first time in my life, i was happy to be wrong! :DD
Pierce made a miraculous comeback! The crowd went wild when he made back to back 3-pointers!! How was Kobe able to get MVP?. hehe. I mean he went 9-26 from the field.
Right after the game was over I went to the computer and rubbed it in every laker lover's face!!

The Skycar is a plane/car that can take off and land like a helicopter. It can carry 4 passengers and has a top speed of 375 mph (when flying), and a maximum altitude of 36,000. And it gets 20 mpg
It can take off in 35 ft and has emergency parachutes! :)











But it's not street legal and you need to go to an airport to take off.

Adventurers Field Day By Jennifer Pegg

Today on June 6, 2008 adventures have a field day. The whole day is going to be fun, fun, fun! There is a waterslide and an obstacle course. Lets hope no one gets hurt.

Killing Mr. Griffin.

Killing Mr. Griffin is a great mystery book by Lois Duncan. Mr. Griffin is a strict but kind Englsih teacher. One of his students is Susan McConnell. she is a straight A student and a very good one too but in Mr. Griffin's class, she only get Bs and sometimes even Cs. Some other students in his class is Mark, Dave and Maya who are not doing so well with his strict grading. Fed up with all of this, they decide to play a little trick on their teacher, kidnappng! Marks ask Susan to join them as a decoy when they kidnap him. Susan agreed without thinking and because her crush, Dave is in it, she accepted the invitation. However, when they kidnapp Mr. Griffin, somehthing goes wrong, they become criminals and a group member is almost killed!!! Read Killing Mr. Griffin to see what happens.

The explorers are having there debates right now and today in English we saw a movie called The Great Debaters. Its a pretty good movie so far. Denzel Washington is in it! I know..isnt that awesome!! History project! by: Desiree Fierro

All adventurers have a history project that is due on May 27. The project is about a famous renaissance people, such as William Shakespeare, Michelangelo and Leonardo De Vinci!
The purpose of this project is to gain an understanding of the contributions of one individual to his/her civilization during the 1300 to 1600’s period.
The bio-board must include a report on the individual (pictures, drawings, illustrating the person’s contributions to the renaissance with a diary/ journal page. I have already started my project but I still need a board!!! It’s easy for me because I have William Shakespeare! Ha ha!!!!!!!!!

On May 20th Oak Avenue sofball team won 13-4 against North View. Megan Pultz was the pitcher of the game and the only pitcher there. Jennifer Pegg,Breanna Rodrigo, Daniella Piaz, and Rebecca Corrosco were not there because one had a game. Jennifer and Daniella had a game, Breanna had practice and Rebbace was not at school. We won twice and lost twice. If we win are next game we will have more wins than loses.

"the race to win the ice cream party" by ryan sayphraraj and dong

The School for Schools Club is raising money for the people in Uganda. What ever team raises the most money gets an Ice Cream Party. So far the Seekers are in first place with $96.66. It is pretty sure the Seekers are going to win because we ROCK!!! The money will go to refurbishment projects as well as the construction of new classrooms and science laboratories at Lacor Secondary School, Gulu High School, Layibi Secondary School, and Atanga Secondary School. There are a lot of donation boxes that need to be filled with money to go to poor people in Uganda. The boxes will be in your math and social studies class. The fundraiser ends on Friday May 16th. So bring all your change and donate to the people in Uganda who need help.

Last field trip for seekers by: Jennifer Pegg & Breanna Rodrigo

On Tuesday, June 17 Seekers are going to Disneyland California Adventure. They are going to be there from 8 am to 8 pm. the Adventurers field trip is unknown so far and we have no idea what the Voyagers are doing next. Seekers are supposed to pay 38 dollars by May 21/May 22. At the beginning they are going to take 3 hour educational tour and the rest of the time the kids can do what ever the want. Also chaperones are needed for the trip.

On saturday, May 10 was the once a year wango tango. It was at the verizon wireless center. My mom took me, my friend jenny, and my cousin avery. The jonas brothers played first, then the dey, then shwayze, after him was miley cyrus, then cherish, danity kane, flo rida, snoop dog, and then last pitbull. On my opinion I think the jonas brothers were the best and snoop dog was the second best, and since this is supposed to be educational if they started at 6:30 and ended at 11:30 how lomg was the whole concert? And if we got at the verizon wireless center at 2:00 and we left at 11:30 how long were we there?

That wiggly treat that comes in an array of colors is JELLO!!! I wonder... *pause* what have we've been putting in our mouths?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Technically, jello is a bunch of processed collagen- any class of extra celluar proteins abundant in higher animals, esp. in the skin, bone, cartilage, tendon, and teeth, forming strong insoluble fibers and serving as connective tissue between cells, yielding gelatin when denatured by boiling. They heat the collagen in HOT water to get gelatin. It goes through this big process just to make a lot of this jiggly snack. It cools and makes JELLO!!!

- 2 three oz. packages of lemon jello
- 2 ¼ cups of boiling water
- 6 oz. can of frozen lemonade
- 9 oz. containers of cool whip

Johan Vaaler, invented the paperclip in 1899 in Norway. He patented his design in 1899 in Germany. What he invented didn't look like the modern paperclip. It looked like the one on the left.

A company called Gem Manufacturing Ltd designed the double oval shaped paperclip. This form of paperclip is called the "Gem" clip.

A interesting thing is that during World War II, Norwegians were forced to not wear anything that had to do with their king. So they started wearing paperclips, because paperclips came from Norway.

It'z that time of the year, where us 8th-ies have to DEBATE. Kinda, Nervous about it. Hahahha, I have no idea what we're going to do it now. I'd want to do something like fighting for abortion or gays! Frankly there is NOTHING wrong with gays or abortion. Apparently from our teacher, urghs we have to use STATISTICS , and FACTS, and just very detailed stuff like that. Sounds like TOTAL ...fun. Hahaha, but really I heard we have to dress up and stuff. Urgh, that's BAD news for me. I think that means skirt, dress shoes and stuff....Great hopefully no one takes pic-chas. X: I hope I ace it it's our project for every single class except math of course. Althought I should think they'd count math because we'll be using statistics. I'm excited/nervous/frustrated/stressed over this debate that hasn't even been assigned yet. Oh well, frankly I've always wanted to do a debate. But not in front of the majority of the EXPLORER

imagne if you were told that you only had one more week left. what would you do ?
sitt back and think, "ohh whats gonna happen ?" or are you gonna go out ? and kick it with your homies and live life to the fullest ? cause thats what i'd do, have all the fun in the world. even if they lock me in, i wouldn't care, i'd just be like forget that ! and sneak out. :D


you may never know whats around the corner. i mean what if tomorrow there was a big nuclear bomb ? or a serial killer was out to kill everyone ?

well if you manage too escape all those little things, one thing can kill you for sure.

did you know, that eventually all the stars would die out ?
including the biggest star, the sun.

ever learned how stars were created ?
well all the little hydrogen atoms in the atmostphere, gets to the center of the stars, and eventually makes them explode. killing the old one and making a new one :D
well what if the sun dies out ? what then ?
well we'd all die, including the earth, and the other planets.
the heat from the explosion of the sun would make all the water evaporate, and without water, we cant survive. then tthe plantets would evaporate taking our precious earth with it.

then thats the end of us, and we wouldn't know if there was another galaxy out there.
for all we know, our little milky way galaxy can be in a small box, with millions of other galaxys and universes out there. and god could be holding us in there watching his little creations.

I. How to get out of Quicksand basics- a bed of soft or loose sand saturated with water and having considerable depth, yielding under weight and therefore tending to suck down any object resting on its surface. (definition courtesy of dictionary.com):
1. First of all, just look out for it in places where land and water are together, or else you will be up to your thighs in muddy sand.
2. DO NOT PANIC!!! ... or you will sink faster.
3. Distribute your weight and try to crawl out SLOWLY!

II. How to find north without a compass:

Today Ms. paulinos class and Mr. Brandon's class are going to go swimming at the Temple City High School!!! First, we all change in the locker rooms and then we go to our numbers outside where we usually wait for Ms. Paulino. After that, we walk out into the parking lot while staying inside the white line. then we walk across the street into the high school that is right across the street from oak! then we set our stuff to the side on the bleachers and wait 'til the teacher says its okay to go into the pool! then, WE GET TO GO SWIMMING!!!!!!!!! yay! its gonna B so cool since its been so hot lately!!!

Mr. Loomis's project By:Ryan Sayphraraj

We had a project in Mr. Loomis’s class that involved making a club with a partner. My partner was Keane Cheng and we made up a club called the Water Givers and our club had to write a letter to Mr. Gray, write about the club, make up an event we could do to raise money for a kid, and make a poster. We will raise money by doing fundraiser, and parties. For the fundraisers we will sell special shirts and bracelets with our special emblem that looks like a water drop. For the movie and popcorn party we will charge two dollars for pre sale and three dollars on the movie night. We’ll give the money to the Invisible Children’s Foundation. That money will go towards water wells and food for Uganda. Keane and I are already done and it’s due on Friday.

Helping Children in Uganda By Jennifer Pegg

Oak Avenue Softball by: Breanna Rodrigo

I am on the softball for oak. Our first game is on FRIDAY can believe it this Friday on May 2! There are 15 girls on my team. We are playing Santa Fe at Santa Fe Springs. I am so excited but we can’t have practice before the game because of the Sierra Madre fire. Our coach is Bobby Hudak and has chosen a great all-star team. I am the smallest girl on the team. I have no idea what the Santa Fe team is like and I don’t know what to expect except that they are probably going to be a lot bigger than me. We only have two away games and the rest is here, well its not here because the softball field is covered with grass! So the home games will be at Temple
City High School. I think we are going to have a great first game. Wish us luck.

Oak's Star testing is next month! From the records of Oak's Star testing grades, our school has been doing very well, as said on the school website. It will be from May 6-10, Tuesday to Friday. There will be no block days next week due to Star testing. Star testing should be between 8:35 AM-12:00 PM in silent reading and you need to come to school at 8:35 AM on Friday. Believe it or not, fishes actually do pee. Fresh water fishes are constantly producing rich urine because they are always taking up the water. Salt water fishes produce small amounts of urine because they face enviromenmental stress! They are always losing water due to osmosis. So they use their pee. Sharks and rays have another way of peeing. But all in all, fishes actually do PEE! Finally, this long time question has been answered. Fishes actually do pee! They eat and drink their own pee because they have to. How cool is that! Here’s one thing I suggest for your curious boys and girls. Don’t try to stare at your fish until it starts peeing, because you’ll be staring for quite a while!

I was so excited. I finally got to go to this place my friend told me about. It was this place called Cue. It's this place where you go in a booth and take pictures, after that you get to decorate them. The whole thing was a little hard though, EVERY SINGLE BOOTH WAS IN JAPANESE. All the booths were so interesting there was one with a couch, monkey bars,and some you just stand up and pose. Yeah, we messed up a lot, but we got some really cute pics. Cue was so FUN!!! It has been like extremely hot. I have been in shorts the whole week and weekend. The fire in the mountains also made it hot. My friend and I went to the mall at 6:30 and we can see little orange lights. It was really intresting, but her mom got kinda scared. The sun got me really tired and my energy was all gone. Bears are mammals of the kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class Mammalia, order Carnivora, suboder Caniformia, Superfamily Ursoidea, family Ursidae. The common characteristics of bears include large body with stocky legs, long snout, and long hair. Bears are aided with an excellent sense of smell. There are different types of bears: black bears, grizzly bears, polar bears, giant pandas, and brown bears. They have heraldry and other symbol use. The bear at North America are North American Black Bears and North American brown bears, including Kodiak and Grizzlies. Bears are intelligent and potentially dangerous animals. Most people that get killed by bears are people that are afraid of bears. Bears don't like noises and want a lot of space. You can never outrun a bears because they run 35 miles an hour and like dogs they will chase fleeing animals. Standing bears are sometimes threatening and mostly curious. A shotgun would not kill a bear because of its thick hide. Learning where their territory is can help you avoid serious injury. In summary: Avoid surprising bears at close distance, look for signs of bears and make plenty of noise. Avoid crowding bears; respect their "personal space." Avoid attracting bears through improper handling of food or garbage. Plan ahead, stay calm, identify yourself, don't run.

last night i had the weirdest dream!!! i dreamed that i was in my dad's garage and i stole his car!!! and then when i tried to reverse the car, i backed up all the way out of the garage and out into the street! then, when i tried to drive foward it drove all by itself without me even touching the pedal or the steering wheel !!!!!!!!!! and then all of a sudden i was back in the garage standing outside the car !! i was laying on the floor of the garage but i realized it was a dream when i woke up 20 minutes later. i wasn't sure if i was relieved or disappointed!! lol.....

Day at the Mall?! - By Maggie Liu.

Okay, so around last week or so me and my friends Veronica, Truc, and Chen went to AMC to watch Prom Night. I was literally freaking out, because it's just not me to watch a scary movie. I'm usually into chick flicks or comedy etc. Seriously, me + scary = not going to work out. But, I went anyways, whether it was my pride or whatever I have NO idea... Throughout the whole movie, I was constantly hiding behind my jacket. My friends were just sitting there calmly watching the movie while I'm freaking out next to them. I was constantly whispering to my friend on my right side, to get my mind off of the movie. You could say, I was kinda annoying. When I went back home, I couldn't exactly sleep. I was what you could say paranoid. I will NEVER watch scary movies EVER again. If my friends try to get me to watch another scary movie, I will run before they manage to persuade me to go.

The ending was kind of disappointing, but for a very weak horror movie viewer like me, it was scary. For you professional horror movie watchers, well it's actually rather bad and disappointing. Here's a link to a bunch of reviews.

Hi, have you ever wondered what a fish is? Fishes are aquatic vertebrates that live, and move in the sea. Fishes has internal organs that help it stabalize in ocean depths nad many fins to help swim. Scales protect the fish with mucus. I know that the fish doesn't stop swimming or it will drown. Fishes use gills to filter water and obtain oxygen.
Fishes have a heart, gill, anus, intestines, stomach, and a swim bladder. Fishes live longer in the ocean that in an aquarium or a fish tank. Fishes are interesting to study because if you would approach a fish behind it, it would sense you without turning its head because its eyes are separated. Fishes are great symbols in acts or movies. They are warm-blooded and cold-blooded fish. Thje term fish is most precisely used to describe any non-triapod chordate. Most fishes travel in groups and unlike sharks fishes live longer becasue the bones of charks are made of soft-bone called cartilage except its teeth. Fishes, such as blue tuna should be protected because thousand of different kinds of fish species are going extinct because of overfishing and ocean pollution.

The Day I Figured Out What LOL Meant

I didn't know what LOL meant until last year. Lots of ppl alwats said it but I never knew what it meant. then one day i asked my friend and he didn't know either. Then we started asking around and got alot of different answers but a lot of ppl said laugh out loud and lots of love so figure it meant that. LOL means lots of love and laugh out loud.

ROFL what a funny night on April 11, 2007 everyone had lots of fun at dinner. We took a trip to La Puente Hills with our “Street Fam” to celebrate our little sister Stephanie Chau’s birthday. We arrived at the Macaroni Grill at about 5:30 P.M and it started off really boring, but after we took our seats we all started drawing on the tables while our food was arriving. After that Brandon Lee & Kenny An tried to eat a meat ball the size of a golf ball all at once. We both choked out because it was so hot, and later on tried again. Steph’s dad had ordered food for everone already, but we were kinda being pigs so we ordered more food. Steph & Lisa Liang shared some lasagna while Kenny and Victor Lo had their own plate. Then Charlene Hoang started pouring salt into Brandon’s crème soda so we also orded more drinks. After, we asked the waitress for some shot glasses and she stared at us funny and responded ,” Shot glasses?”. She looked at us if we were crazy until Justine Quach responded, “I think they mean empty ones.” Then she was like …. “OHHHHH.” Ahahha then she came back with two, and Justine & Stephanie started pouring lemonade into the cup and then Lisa started to dump pepper and salt into the drink and both Kenny and Brandon were going to chug it. Brandon did it, but Kenny chickened out, so Justine chugged it like nothing. We kept doing that after a while, and then stopped when Brandon decided to be stupid and poured virgin olive oil into it, and chugged that and started running around in the restraunt looking for the bathroom so he could puke -_- (:
LOL. Man that was a fun night. We were acting so immature that night .. (well not as immature as Stephanie’s cousin Laura’s friends), we got all the workers and customers really annoyed. After that we started taking more pictures, went outside for a little, and then went in for cake. While they were doing that Justine and Brandon went outside for some air and walked to the AMC, well at least half way and ran back just in time. Then in the car ride home, almost everyone was dead, except Vincent Hsiao and his girlfriend Orenda Doung who were “fighting” in the car. When we got back to Steph’s house, her dad took Justine, Vincent Hsiao, & Orenda Doung back to Justine’s house where Vincent was building a fort -_-.

This song can only be described in one word: addicting.

The boredom sets in, as I sit in a classroom before this computer comtemplating the rest of my day. I visualize myself in English class writing my benchmark in abject despair. I really don't like being bored. Sometimes I wish that I could just go home and sleep. Have you ever felt like that? Writing a blog is hard because I can't think of anything to type! Maybe if I keep typing random things on this keyboard I will gain some inspiration and think of something interesting to write about.

I am still writing but nothing is coming out... Maybe this blog could actually be interesting, if someone actually bothered to write a good entry. Oh my god, my friend was talking to me on aim. When, I said "For sure". She said, "What?! No way! It's actually FER SURE. I'm like, "Psh, there is no specific way to say "for sure" you doofus. It's just the way you speak. So she said, "YES THERE IS GEEZ!" "Haven't you ever heard of MEDIC DROID?!" I was thinking what a dumb name it was when she sent me a youtube link. I double clicked on it and listened to the song, "Fer sure by Medic Droid". They had extremely colorful vocabulary. But it had a totally tight beat, I loved it. I'm still obsessed with this song today! From now on, I don't say FOR sure. I say FER sure. I correct people now. Just because of this one song, I'm totally in love with techno.

OMG! Lakers!!! by Mr. Yu

It's all the more amazing because the started out the season 9-8, and there was talk about trading Kobe Bryant. Then they traded for Pau Gasol, and their luck changed! Now they are on a roll going into the palyoffs and experts are saying that they are peaking at just the right time.
